Why View the Edit History of Cells in Google Sheets?
Let’s say you are working on a spreadsheet. You are entering or modifying the sheet for analysing data. There are high chances that you might make errors in the process and want to move back to previous versions.
We know that Google Sheets provides the Undo command for viewing previous versions of your sheet. However, you won’t be able to look at previous versions of individual cells using the UNDO command.
Let’s say you are making changes to some cells while editing the spreadsheet. After a point in time, you realise that there is an error in the final output. Till now, you would have performed hundreds of actions on the spreadsheet. Therefore, if you want to debug the issue, viewing the previous versions of the entire sheet doesn’t make sense. In this case, you can view previous versions of individual cells to get to the root cause of the discrepancy in the final output. Here’s a brief explanation of how you can view the edit history of cells in Google Sheets.
